Dont Say We Have Come Now To The End - Day 84
It was 7.30 am when I woke up – the last day…
It hadnt really quite sunk in, eventhough I was carrying a huge bag of gifts and stuff into work. When I got in it was basically business as usual: everyone getting ready, putting on tags, counting money for Scaling, etc etc. and yes, I had to do Scaling AGAIN! Argh!! Ah well, guess I shouldn’t complain so much, I mean it was the last day and all, and I only had it for the morning session so it wasn’t so bad.
I had lunch alone so I went up to KFC just for the sake of getting out of the Science Center and doing something different.
There was a fair crowd in today, mainly because it was the last day and I guess some people like to be really last minute, I mean nevermind that the Exhibition has only been in town since MARCH! Sheesh. At least there were no stupid people asking stupid questions, though there were people trying to sneak away with that one last photograph! HA! Nice try but no luck. Caught one guy taking one with his camera phone, said he’d delete it and started walking away. I kept in step and he asked why I was following him. “To make sure you delete that photo”. Pfft!
Lai San asked Maryann and me to do some surveys. Y’know what, we just couldn’t be bothered walking around and bugging random people, so we took a break and went out to the Café and filled in the surveys ourselves. And had one last waffle and ice cream in the process. The uncles working there gave me a parting gift of frozen waffles so that if I ever wanted to eat it at home I could re-create it myself! Yay!!
Everything just fell apart after 7pm. That’s when the Science Center events staff were having their own closing party for the LOTR people at the Café, so of course all of us were invited to join in the festivites. Music, food (barely) and drinks both alcoholic and non. Did we really need to think about it? Slag no!
Truth be told I only joined the party at about 8pm cos for the rest of the time, after seeing Maryann off, I was helping with the directing in Scaling. Lol! People like my directing. Anyways, this being a Science Center and all, drinks were being served in very large test tubes instead of your traditional glass. All the food was gone though. So when I walked in, first thing Clarence did was give me half a test tube of champagne, and I love the stuff so who am I to refuse?! So I joined the table where some of the showhosts, SFX and VSA guys were and Lai San poured me ¼ test tube of some wacky concoction of iced tea and scotch which I have to admit was pretty good.
In true Sri Lankan style, Clarence was off getting blissfully drunk so he comes round and pours drinks for all of us again, including a full test tube of Chardonnay for me.. ok. Well it was white wine and I love white wine.
Did I mention I was drinking on an empty stomach?
Not a good idea. After I downed the Chardonnay I got up to take some photos and nearly fell over. My head just did a total 360 – twice and according to some my face was just flushed bright pink. Thank Primus I know my limits so I decided to lay off the drinks after that. Managed to take some nice photos. We swiped some tortilla chips and dip from the other tables. The guacamole was real good. I started eating quite a bit to take the dizziness off.
Some of the others werent as well off however. Clarence and Ross were totally wasted. Ravi, that little bastard, he’s slagging underaged but he was drinking like nobody’s business. Ann was slightly wasted too. And Wendy and quite possibly Karen as well. Clarence, Ross and Ravi were beyond help, but we couldn’t really have our showhosts stoned so Zack and I made some lemon and lime juice to sober them up a little. Gotta hand it to Krist though, that guy can hold his drink.
Don’t worry. Dizziness aside I was perfectly sober. At least I wasn’t going around making an ass outta myself and talking rubbish.
Some time around 9pm the SPI (Singapore Paranormal Investigators) show up. O.o… alrighty then. Apparently they were there to check out parts of the Science Center for supernatural activity. We wanted to go find them, but Roger told us not to. That wasn’t to be the last of them however. Will come back to that later.
Now our security guard friend Govin got off duty and came to join the party too. Btw, none of us showhosts were off duty yet. We were working and partying at the same time lol! Funny enough, inspite of the drinks we were still able to catch people taking photos. Haha! Anyways yes, about Govin. He comes up to the bar/café and asks for a drink, so we give him half a paper cup of white wine and another half cup of red wine. After that I had to go back inside and work a little so that some of the others could come out and party a little.
When I came back out in an hour, Ann (now slightly sober than before) comes running up looking for the juice. Apparently Govin had taken those drinks on an empty stomach and was now piss drunk and throwing up in the back. ROTFLMSO!! So Krist, myself and VSA Alain wound up having to help the guy. Couldn’t let the permanent Science Center staff see him like that, especially since the Big Boss was now there too. We managed to get him into a back room, and kept telling him to shut up till he finally went to sleep. Sheesh!
Then suddenly there comes an announcement over the PA system that we’ve extended opening hours till 1am! Fragging SLAG! That means the showhost party was going to be pushed back too. Argh!!
Anyways about 12.30 pm, people finally left and we closed to the public. Then all the remaining staff whipped out cameras again and ran around taking photos of all the Exhibits one last time. I got on to the Gondor Saddle! Go me!! I went round and touched every slagging Exhibit that could be touched!! Yes!!
Then Krist and Ann yelled for everyone to get our collective asses into Movie World for the awards ceremony and video presentation. Hey, we’re the lunatic showhosts remember? What you thought this was going to be a serious thing? LMSO… so first was the video. It opened with Maryann and I in the primadonna skit. Omg the videos were HILARIOUS! Ridhwan doing Gollum and the Cave Troll! Krist as the smoking, head-banging Nazgul, Zack and Ann middle-finger sparring! ROTFL!! Everyone was laughing their heads off. The awards were based on the video clips of us. Too funny man.
Then Zack gave out his gifts: wonderfully drawn caricatures of each of us =), and Melvin and Ridhwan gave out expensive chocolates. And I got to give out my gifts too. Thankfully, everyone loved them! Yay! Never say I don’t know how to chose gifts!
And then, those who had shitloads of money for outrageous cabfare went on their merry way home. The rest of the showhosts (myself too), Clarice and one of the SFX girls decided to camp till morning inside the LOTR Exhibition Hall…
