High Notes
Its Sunday again folks and we all know what this means.. another chance for Jo to work her vocal chords haggard.
yep, back in the choir again.
now for the last two weeks i was pretty confused about my place in there cos one day they tell me i'm a Descant and the next week they dont seem too concerned that i'm sitting with the Sopranos again... until today.
when i walked in and went up to sit with the usual Sopranos, Aunty Pat and Sophia called me back and told me to join the Descants. boy was i nervous... mainly because i was still coughing like the doozy i was worried my cough wouldnt let me hit all those friggin high notes. for those of you who think hitting high notes is no big deal, i invite you to come to my choir and try hitting a few of the notes we hit. its NOT easy because we also have to compete to be heard with all the other sections like the Sopranos and the Tenors (Altos and Basses go low so thats no worry).
we practised a new piece today for Christmas.. man.. it was so slagging confusing that everything just fell apart after the first few lines.. *shudder* i hope we'll be ready for Christmas.
My voice held through the mass thank goodness, but i dont think my throat likes a particular Ave Maria we sing cos the minute we pulled it out to practise i started another coughing fit. thankfully Aileen, the girl i was next to, gave me a Strepsil to get the itch out.
good thing too cos when we did the new piece, the Descants had to hit a High A. *shudder* According to Bernard's audition of me, my range was only upto a High G, yet i was able to hit the High A. yipes! did i do that?!
so far we've got some nice sounding songs for Christmas, but i hope we do some of the old traditional hymns too. i love those.
i decided to change my file again cos i have too many choir scores for my little Spiderman 2 folder to hold. in the end i bought a stack of 100 clear pockets and stuck them in my large Legolas folder. hoo boy i cant wait to show up next sunday with THAT! bet that's going to turn a few heads... hehe... as for the Legolas folder, no i didnt buy it. it was a gift from my clueless Australian cousins. decided to put it to some use.
after choir Clarice came home with me and we watched TMNT II! *giggle* i love that show. also checked out my new Hidalgo dvd... *sigh* pretty horses.. =). bwahaha.. she loves her new Van Helsing toys.. oh and Thor, that was real nice of you to buy the Anna toy for her, why didnt you tell me you were gonna get it? =)
other than all that, lets see... C and i are planning to tour all the museums tomorrow since its National Day and they're granting free entry. i know it sounds boring but you'd actually be surprised how many story ideas you can get from a little bit of history. i cant wait...
