12:15 a.m. - 2004-08-17 today i met up with Fatimah, and Zack at the SC for the briefing about the NJRC. it didnt take very long, basically what we have to do is co-ordinate the various school teams and make sure everything keeps to time and runs smoothly. maybe they were trying to scare us by mentioning large numbers like "a few 100", but seriously, you're talking to ex-showhosts.. a few 100 was daily fare during the LOTR Exhibition on a slow day. Fatimah and i once guided 140 schoolkids around the hall. i mean c'mon.. we were the ones who handled the 5,000+ people on that insane Vesak day and we're still standing, so a few 100...sorry, not scary. what is scary though is the time we have to report in to work for those two weeks. 8am!! that means leaving home at 7am!! that means waking up at 6am!!!!! GAAAAH!!! slaggit! i dont do early mornings... mreh, but i need the money... if only they could have shifts like LOTR. anyways, once the briefing was over, we hung around the Events office upstairs, looking at each others photographs while we waited for Lai San to get off work. Zack had to go off early though, so when Lai San was finished, we went down to the Jurong Entertainment Center where Jean met us for dinner... hehe we had a very LOTR discussion on just about everything and it was really nice to be able to have a conversation with people who are just as into it as i am, instead of with people who will just look at me funny and go "huh?". we talked about having an LOTR convention in S'pore, about the ROTK EE DVD, and Primus knows what else, before we finally decided to call it a night and head home. Fatimah kept Lai San and myself entertained on the train with weird LOTR/Anime parodies. after Lai San got off at her stop however, right in the middle of our convo on the SPI coming into LOTR on the last day, Fatimah told me some stuff that i am glad i never found out about until now. the Annex building is haunted. heh yeah. and according to Ann, a practising Wicca who is able to sense/see "stuff", even the LOTR Hall had its share of spirits that used to mainly gather around the Boromir area, mainly because he was so lifelike. Thankfully though, none of these were harmful. in fact, they were more like guardian spirits or something, a highly likely theory considering what Fatimah told me next. whatever was haunting the lobby and SFX section of the Annex was not so friendly. one incident happened to the night watchman in the lobby. he was sleeping inside the Ticketing Circle when he heard a voice calling him from behind one of the large pillars, asking him to come out and play. and there's the freakiness that happened to a female security guard on night duty. she happened to be walking through the SFX hall when she heard what sounded like one of the technicians calling her from near the Simulator Ride (SR). back when we first started there used to be a raised section near the SR close to roof level, and this was where the voice was calling from. without thinking that everyone would have most likely gone home, she went up. thats when she felt some pressure and she was pushed off the section. a medical report said that there was no way she could have fallen, she was definitely pushed. but she said she didnt see anyone. According to Fatimah, the room behind the Titanic Terror exhibit also had something in it, cos when she went in there to get some paper refills, she said she felt all her hair stand as if there was someone else in the room. Primus i am so glad i did not know this when i was stuck in there on the last night with a very drunk and passed-out Govin. looking back though, there may have been something i was blissfully unaware of. there was the case of the kid who lost his waterbottle in SFX. he informed us around the time we were closing up at 6pm. the timers were off and both halls were in darkness. still i wanted to help so i took him back inside SFX to help me look for it. when we reached the Titanic exhibit, the kid suddenly stopped, said it was scary in there and ran back out. me being rather thick and oblivious, thought he was just scared of the dark and continued on with a sweep of the hall and came back out. for the record, we never found the waterbottle. i'm starting to think now, that whatever was in LOTR probably protected us. i mean we walked around the LOTR Hall in the dark countless times. i walked around in there alone with the lights off so many times. yet we rarely went into SFX in the dark unless we were in a big group. maybe i unconsciously felt stuff, i dont know. its possible abt the SFX theory though.. cos when i walked in LOTR in the dark, whenever i passed the tunnel that led to SFX, i'd get an uncomfy feeling. didnt know why until now. still, i am glad the LOTR spirits kept us safe, especially that last night when we all slept over. Just another reason why we called the LOTR Exhibition a second home.
