10:57 p.m. - 2004-12-11 this of course meant an early wake-up, and i was so excited about the whole thing that sleeping the night before was not going to be easy.. and it wasnt. i kept waking up at random intervals, wondering if it was time yet. we assembled in the auditorium at 9am and practised a few new pieces for tomorrow's mass while waiting for Father JJ to show... just so ya know, Father JJ is the Head of the Liturgical Music Committee... to put it simply, he's the one in charge of the music that choirs here sing in the Catholic churches. for the next two hours he talked about the various meanings of the mass, the role of the choir, how to sing, how certain hymns should be sung, where the singing is most important, the different styles and all the jargon associated with choir singing. a non-choir person would have found it extremely boring, but i thought it was good to know all this stuff. plus its nice to know that we're not simply volunteering. according to him, the choir is also a ministry in the church and by singing in one, you've answered a calling from God to use your talents for His glory.. its more a service to God than volunteer work =) after the talk, while the others went to have lunch, i dashed off to the mrt station to pick up KY and Maryann. they were going to spend a few hours listening to my choir rehearse. since they cant make it for the big Christmas Eve performance, this was the next best thing. and KY brought six BT Autobots with him, while i had the Mazda Trio in my bag. on the way back to church, it started pouring with rain so the three of us huddled under one umbrella and only got 3/4 soaked.. LOL!! was fun, though when i got back, all the food was gone. ie.. i missed out on lunch.... ah well.. after lunch, we started practise with "O Holy Night", while KY got the BTs out to play audience... lol that was fun... Zoomy was standing trying to play conductor, Sideswipe was tickled pink by "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and the mention of pudding, Grimlock is now trying to sing "Gloria, in Excelcis Deo", Hound has apparently recorded the entire thing, Tracks whined about us not wearing robes, and Jazz... well Jazz is Jazz. he enjoyed it the most i'm guessing. so did i, but singing for about 5 hours aint fun. its murder on the vocals and you only feel it once you're done for the day. not to mention we Descants had to hit a gazillion high notes. *cringe*.. Peach-flavored green tea is my new cure for strained vocal chords. and tomorrow we do it all over again.. yay! just two more days to work at RC... i'm sad. i liked working there and i was just starting to get the hang of things..
